đź’‰ LFN Takes On Steenhuisen: Poultry Vaccination Permit Lands Democratic Alliance Leader in Court
When vaccines are approved without consultation, and the people are expected to swallow the consequences — quite literally — LFN stands firm.
In a bold legal move, Liberty Fighters Network has taken Democratic Alliance leader and Agriculture Minister John Steenhuisen to court over his secretive decision to mass-vaccinate South Africa’s poultry. The same state that once urged citizens to trust COVID-19 vaccines — three of which were later deregistered following LFN’s relentless legal challenge — now expects us to trust again, without question.
This time, it’s not in our arms… it’s on our plates.

In the latest showdown for public accountability, Liberty Fighters Network (LFN) has lodged a formal court application against none other than John Steenhuisen — now the Minister of Agriculture and leader of the Democratic Alliance (DA) — over his impulsive decision to authorise the mass vaccination of poultry across South Africa.
Let’s call a spade a spade: Steenhuisen, who claims to stand for transparent, people-centered governance, has taken a decision that flies in the face of those very principles. Without any public consultation, interdepartmental oversight, or scientific transparency, he unilaterally greenlit a national campaign to vaccinate poultry against so-called “highly pathogenic avian influenza” (HPAI).
LFN and its President, Reyno De Beer, have stepped forward to demand answers — not only on behalf of its members, but for every South African who consumes poultry and expects to be protected from unexplained health risks.
🚫 3 of 4 COVID-19 Vaccines Deregistered — Because LFN Fought for It
It is crucial to understand that three out of the four COVID-19 vaccines once registered by SAHPRA were later quietly deregistered — not by coincidence, but in direct consequence of a prolonged and ongoing court battle initiated by LFN back in June 2022.
LFN’s legal challenge was aimed precisely at the absence of proper risk assessment, scientific transparency, and interdepartmental oversight in the approval of those vaccines. Since then, SAHPRA has pulled every technical trick in the book to avoid a final ruling that would expose them as reckless — knowing full well that such a finding would open the floodgates for massive damages claims by those injured or misled.
This is no minor detail. It proves that LFN was right then, and may very well be right again now.
🧾 No Record. No Reason. No Responsibility.
Now, history threatens to repeat itself. On 10 July 2025, LFN formally requested the record of Steenhuisen’s poultry vaccination decision in terms of section 5 of the Promotion of Administrative Justice Act (PAJA). That request was ignored. A polite reminder on 21 July was met with silence.
To date, no reasons, no reports, and no risk assessments have been made public. If this vaccination programme is truly in the public’s best interest, why the secrecy?
📣 DA Leader or Corporate Enabler?
While Steenhuisen continues to campaign as a protector of public rights, his actions paint a different picture — one of corporate appeasement and reckless administrative conduct. By authorising this vaccination without publishing a single peer-reviewed local safety study, without engaging the public, and without verifying interdepartmental checks, he’s shown the same disregard for accountability that LFN previously fought against during COVID-19.
đź’Ą The Stakes? Your Health. Our Food Supply. Public Trust.
This isn’t just about chickens — it’s about people. It’s about your right to know what goes into your food. It’s about rejecting decisions made in closed rooms by politicians who refuse to answer when asked for transparency.
LFN has been here before — and we’re not done.
